We now have more communities strengthened in Baja California Sur, thanks to Philanthropiece!
In the fall of 2014, officially joined the team Philanthropiece in Baja California Sur and my work in the city of La Paz and its surroundings has begun to bear fruit.
By the closer of 2014, I had created two community banks in the city, both working smoothly. In fact, I am a partner in La Perla, the community bank where my wife and daughter are also members. It has been very rewarding to train these two groups. I have met many very favorable situations, witnessing a change in the individuals and in the groups, mainly all the sharing experiences have been very rewarding. We all feel like a family now, a family that saves.
At the same time, I have had the opportunity to travel quite often throughout the northern side of Baja California Sur, supporting the work of my colleague Martha Drew with the community banks that she monitors in the region of Loreto and rural communities near Loreto. I can only say I’m surprised in how groups have accepted and assimilated the Community Banks methodology, and at the same time how weekly meetings have become a party. No matter who has saved a lot or a little, partners are always happy to meet and save their money.
I am convinced that the Philanthropiece methodology that promotes community banks brings a lot to build strong communities. The partners exercise their powers of decision and participation each week. You begin to see and feel the successes, from the partner in Agua Verde improving her little store, to even the children starting to care about the future.
There is no doubt that we live in difficult times in all ways, but mainly on family finances. The future is uncertain in many cases, but saving and living through community banks become a beacon of hope for many people, generating that security provided by having money for an emergency or a project for tomorrow is very important. Furthermore, I think it is more important to have the confidence that we have friends to talk to who can support us, answer questions, and have fun. That’s really the key, and it is priceless.
I feel very honored to belong to this team of people who in one way or another create a positive change in people and in social networks by participating weekly through their community banks. I am pleased to add my bit and simultaneously learn from Philanthropiece, but more importantly from the people who join and form their community banks.

¡Ya somos más comunidades fortalecidas en Baja California Sur gracias a Philanthropiece!
Han pasado dos meses desde que me uní oficialmente al equipo de Philanthropiece en Baja California Sur, mi trabajo en la ciudad de La Paz y en sus alrededores ha comenzado a rendir sus frutos.
Hasta el momento se han formado dos bancos comunitarios en la ciudad, ambos trabajando sin contratiempos, de hecho soy socio en el CB La Perla en donde mi esposa y mi hija también son socias.
Ha sido muy gratificante el entrenar a estos dos grupos, me he encontrado con muchas situaciones muy satisfactorias, el presenciar un cambio a nivel individual y en los grupos, principalmente donde la convivencia ha sido muy gratificante, todos nos sentimos como en una familia ahora, una familia que ahorra.
Al mismo tiempo he tenido la oportunidad de viajar con cierta frecuencia al norte del estado de Baja California Sur apoyando el trabajo de mi compañera Martha Drew con los bancos comunitarios que ella monitorea en la región de Loreto y en las comunidades rurales cerca de Loreto, no puedo más que decir que estoy sorprendido de la manera en que los grupos han aceptado y asimilado las tareas del banco comunitario, y al mismo tiempo cómo las reuniones de aporte se convierten en una fiesta, no importa que haya mucho o poco ahorrado, los socios siempre están contentos al momento de reunirse y ahorrar.
Estoy convencido que la metodología de los bancos comunitarios que promueve Philanthropiece aporta mucho para crear comunidades sólidas. Los socios ejercitan sus poderes de decisión y de participación cada semana. En algunos casos se comienza a ver y sentir el éxito, desde la socia en Agua Verde que ha mejorado el surtido de su tiendita hasta los niños que se preocupan sobre el destino de sus ahorros.
No cabe duda que vivimos en tiempos difíciles en todos sentidos, pero principalmente en las finanzas familiares, el futuro en muchos casos es incierto, pero ahorrar y convivir a través de los bancos comunitarios se convierte en una luz de esperanza para mucha gente, generar esa seguridad que ofrece el tener dinero para una emergencia o un proyecto para el día de mañana es muy importante; pero creo que más importante es el tener la confianza de que tenemos amigos en los que podemos apoyarnos para platicar, resolver dudas, divertirnos realmente no tiene precio.
Me siento muy honrado de pertenecer a este equipo de personas que de una u otra forma crean cambios positivos en la gente y en las redes sociales que participan cada semana en los bancos comunitarios. Me da mucho gusto poder poner mi grano de arena y al mismo tiempo aprender de Philanthropiece, pero más importante de la gente que se une y forma sus bancos comunitarios.
