Roots of the Immigration Crisis: The Reality in Mexico
July 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FREEJoin Philanthropiece to this presentation addressing the roots of immigration history from Mexico. We believe that while we defend the human and civil rights of our immigrant community, it is also important that we educate ourselves enough to understand and address the root causes leading people to leave their homes and come to the United States. Immigration is currently at the forefront of national dialogue; but the reality in countries south of our border is rarely discussed. This is why Philanthropiece is excited to attend this co-sponsored event by the Rocky Mountain Peace & Justice Center, Ecumenical Project for International Cooperation, Denver Peace and Justice Committee, Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition and, Boulder Mennonite Church. Soila Luna, General Coordinator of the human rights organization called Fundación Don Sergio Méndez Arceo, located in Cuernavaca, Mexico will present a panorama of what is happening in Mexico, and the challenges and hopes for the Mexican people with respect to food security, protection of human rights, and protection of the environment.
