Roots of Migration Crisis: The Reality in Mexico
July 21, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
FREEPhilanthropiece supports this presentation addressing the roots of immigration history from Mexico. This is the same event presented in Ft. Collins as the presentation we plan attending in Boulder as part of Ms. Pineda’s speaking tour. Please attend the one closer to you! We believe that while we defend the human and civil rights of our immigrant community, it is also important that we educate ourselves enough to understand and address the root causes leading people to leave their homes and come to the United States. Immigration is currently at the forefront of national dialogue; but the reality in countries south of our border is rarely discussed. Soila Luna, General Coordinator of the human rights organization called Fundación Don Sergio Méndez Arceo, located in Cuernavaca, Mexico will present a panorama of what is happening in Mexico, and the challenges and hopes for the Mexican people with respect to food security, protection of human rights, and protection of the environment.
**This presentation will be in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation in English via headset (50 available). Hosted by the Sojourn Mennonite Meeting, which is held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. This event is co-sponsored by Interfaith Solidarity and Accompaniment Coalition (ISAAC) and Fuerza Latina. Ms. Pineda’s speaking tour is sponsored by EPIC, The Ecumenical Project for International Cooperation.
