Philanthropiece Foundation Staff

Martha Drew
Regional Coordinator (Loreto), Community Banks

Martha Drew was born and has lived exclusively in Loreto, Baja California Sur, where she earned her degree in Alternative Tourism in the Universidad Autónoma of Baja California Sur (UABCS).  It was there she  learned the importance of sustainable development of communities and the difficulty of accomplishing this without real support for them.  Martha grew up on a ranch, and hence her passion for life in small communities.  Another of her passions is the story that allows us each to know who we came from, who we are and where we are headed. At UABCS, she taught alumni students who are studying Alternative Tourism, and currently supports the nonprofit Living Roots in preserving the life of the rancher in Baja California Sur and helping them achieve better economic and leadership opportunities.  She is currently a student again herself in the master’s program in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources at the UABCS.

At Philanthropiece, we are fortunate to have a team of inspired and inspiring individuals who are willing to go to the end of the earth and back – or at least to the end of a long dirt road in the back of a bumpy bus – to share in the process of creating a better life in our partner communities.
