Philanthropiece Foundation Staff

Caitlin Mendenhall
Scholarship Program Consultant, Philanthropiece Scholars

Caitlin is a graduate of the University of Denver with BA’s in International Studies and Spanish and a minor in French. Her interest in international development first started in 2010 when she went on a service trip with Al Campo Internacional to Nicaragua through the International Baccalaureate Programme at her high school. Since then, she has traveled to Honduras with the Global Public Health Brigades and visited Mexico and Belize. While studying abroad in Mérida, on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, Caitlin’s interest in Mayan cultures deepened, further steering her toward human development in Central America. She spent 2016 working in Philanthropiece’s Guatemala office as Scholarship Program Coordinator, and in 2017 will continue to work with local staff to contribute to the sustainability of the program. Caitlin is passionate about education and women’s empowerment, as well as sustainable community development. In the future, she hopes to keep traveling throughout Latin America and working with indigenous populations. At DU, she served as Co-President of the student organization DU Service and Change and enjoys volunteering regularly in her community. A native of Colorado, Caitlin enjoys hiking and camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

At Philanthropiece, we are fortunate to have a team of inspired and inspiring individuals who are willing to go to the end of the earth and back – or at least to the end of a long dirt road in the back of a bumpy bus – to share in the process of creating a better life in our partner communities.
